Tips for Improving your Golf Drives on the Course.

One of the easiest ways to improve your golf is to learn how to hit the ball farther on especially when teeing off. Anyone who can not tee off and hit the ball a fair distance is at a disadvantage from the start because they are already metres behind their opponent. One of the key factors in hitting the ball farther is not to tense up when taking the shot. This sounds easy but quite a lot of people tend to forget this when striking the ball. They are that focussed on trying to get the power into their shot that they forget to relax.

The way to hit longer drives off the tee is to relax and let the club do what it was designed for while you concentrate on your grip, stance and your swing to name a few. There are so many things to think about at once that a lot of people forget to concentrate on being relaxed. I know it is not easy, but if you concentrate on your swing and try to relax the power will come the more you practice.

Another thing to try and remember is your grip. Try to get your grip the same each time you hold the club. It may feel a little awkward to start with but you will soon get the hang of it. If you are just starting out playing golf, seek out a professional to give you a few lessons as it will be well worth the money. If you can have a few lessons at the start you will not have any bad habits to sort out first before you can learn any good habits. Your grip should never be so tight that you hands are aching or sore after a few minutes. You should try to grip the club in your quite loosely in your hands. A lot of people just starting out playing golf think that the tighter you grip the club the farther you will hit the ball. The truth is that the club should be held with just enough force that it will not come out of your hands and this way you will be nice and relaxed ready to concentrate on your shot.

The angle at which the ball is hit is another factor when aiming for longer distances. Try to keep your swing as flat as possible when hitting the ball and always remember relax. You do not want your tee to high or to low when teeing off. Usually when you place your club next to the ball it should cover about half of the ball but this is different for everyone and only practice will determine exactly where you will want the position of the tee.
