World Long Drive Champion and Mental Skills Expert Eric Jones Joins Pleasanton Golf Center

Pleasanton, CA (PRWEB) June 9, 2008 -- The Pleasanton Golf Center is pleased to announce the June 2008 arrival of new instructor, Eric Jones, a world long drive champion, mental skills expert and founder of the Seaver Golf Academy. He'll be offering instruction for adults and juniors.

The Pleasanton Golf Center welcomes golfers of all ages and abilities and has a variety of programs and activities to enhance your enjoyment of the game including: The Pleasanton Center Golf Club, The First Tee of the Tri-Valley, LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Club, a Spring Tournament Series, a Junior Golf Summer Program, and a Pee Wee Summer Camp for ages 5 and 6.

"We are thrilled to offer Eric's unique programs and his expertise in mental skills training. His skills and interests enable us to offer even more services to those of you who have chosen The Pleasanton Golf Center as your instruction center of choice," said owner Dana Jetter.

"We are excited about this move and the expanded opportunities it will provide for our programs," added Jones. "The Pleasanton Golf Center is working closely with us to support all our programs, including the Golf Coach Program, a unique instruction model built around supervised practice. In addition, we will be delivering several new lesson formats, which will make staying in touch with your coach even more affordable and convenient." Jones will also be helping to develop a variety of junior programs at The Pleasanton Golf Center.

Jones played college golf at Stanford University. He began his teaching career there in the early 90s with the Stanford Junior Summer camps, and he was also the JV Coach and Men's Varsity Assistant Coach. He has also taught at the Golf Lab facilities in Palo Alto, and Poppy Ridge in Livermore. Prior to turning pro in 2003 Eric spent more than 20 years in a variety of executive leadership positions and owned his own management consulting firm. Along the way he remained a competitive golfer and played in the California State Amateur as well as the Northern California amateur championships. In 2003, he won the Re/Max World Long Drive Championship. And in 2006 became the first golfer to win both the senior and open divisions of the Players Tour Championship. Jones is the grandson of Charlie Seaver, known as "Mr. California Golf." Seaver was the epitome of amateur golf and a consummate golfer who played for the love of the game, explained Jones. His values, ideals and integrity are the inspiration behind the Seaver Golf Academy.

The Golf Pitch Shot
A pitch or "pitch shot" is a shot played with a highly lofted club (pitching wedge, sand wedge, lob wedge) that is designed to go a short distance with a high flight path. Pitch shots are usually played into the green, typically from 40-50 yards and closer. It's easy to picture a pitch shot when it is contrasted with the chip or chip shot. A chip shot is played from much closer to the green and the ball is in the air only a short (1/3) amount of time; the point is to get the ball onto the surface of the green and let it roll (2/3) toward the cup. Most of a chip shot is roll. A pitch shot, on the other hand, is in the air for most (2/3) of its distance, with much less roll (1/3) once it hits the ground.

Golf Swing Teaching Aids: Must Haves to Improve Your Golf Swing
It would certainly be something to play golf like Tiger Woods does. As an amateur golfer, you usually look for ways to improve your golf game in a hurry. To do this, you usually schedule trainings with a professional golf instructor, and you also purchase different kinds of golf swing teaching aids.

Golf Tips – A Good Thinking Head Makes A Better Golfer
Golf is a wonderful game but we all want to improve a little bit more and for some a lot more. There can be many contributing factors as to why you find that you are not playing consistently every week or the fact that your handicap seems to be going up a notch instead of the reverse.
